Colourful summer projects
The sewing community is colourful – everyone has his own style in summer.
I had to leave our camping site because it is simply too hot. I rather use my time for new fall projects. But here it’s still summer:

HAVE FUN!
sewing on the sunbed
Some of us are just enjoying the sun, but quite a few need to do someting while relaxing. Having the sewing or embroidery machine with them on the terrace or just crocheting Häcktops
Why not try these appliqués? Get wool remnants or heavy thread, a sewing needle, an old shirt, jersey pieces and scissors and start. Even people who ‘hatesewingbyhand’ will have fun and quick results:

soccer
We are preparing for the World Cup, too.
Malina has chosen the soccer team at school and needs a real soccer shirt, because ” everybody has one, Mum!”
I found a leftover shirt of our fabric sale:
New embroidery designs by Sonja and hamburgerliebe, a glitter ball for the front and back.
I fold shirts on the left side before placing them into the hoop. It prevents the other shirt parts being stitched together.
Malina did keychains for her team.
Quickly made with Kick It!-ribbon, designed by hamburgerliebe, too.
And a long keychain for Malina’s busticket – READY!
crocheting potholders
Honestly, I have never been able to crochet neat potholders. I always liked crocheting but they ALWAYS turned out crooked. Maybe I missed a stitch and did one to many – who knows!?
Still I LOVE crocheted potholders and buy them at Dawanda if required.
That’ s why I kept procrastinating the new epattern ( available tomorrow at farbenmix ) by Sanna. She even did wonderful video tutorials meanwhile ( just for me, I guess
) still I didn’t have the guts.
Just because the did a photo tutorial for me, I would have felt shabby not to try.
Well, crocheted it in one evening – but with Sanna’s tutorial – and then sewed it on in 30 minutes:
It is so pretty and fits perfectly. And it was not difficult at all even though I might have lost again a stitch ot two. This is surely not my last top.
Should I try potholders again?
… well, I think buying is less stressful for me… sigh…
*****
The Video-Crocheting tutorials are online for EVERYBODY, even if you don’t want to buy the epattern.
Thank you so much, Sanna!!!
A damsel needs EVERYTHING…
… and EVERYTHING you find in mymakis brandnew book:
“Alles, was Fräulein so braucht”
*Anything a young miss needs*
Well, it’s not IN the book, but a bunch of patterns how to make those things!
The most beautiful index in the whole wide world… sigh…
All the basics for the projects are easy to understand. Even for beginners.
A lot of pictures and cheerful text make the book a lot of fun.
The instrucions are detailed and tested many times.
Included is a tutorial how to make your own appliques.
Patterns, embroidery files and other stuff are on the included CD.
I hope you are as enthusiastic as I am. And myriads of mice are awaiting you on Thursday at farbenmix!
Enjoying the sunshine…
To enjoy a few rays of sunshine I took my work outside to sew BY HAND!
So I took this maritime fabric and cut out a few motives to sew them on place mats. I used rough hand stitches. After washing I think they will get a little fringy and will look even better.
Activities like this are just wonderful in the sun!!
