Tip: Elongating tunic dresses
Birthday dresses for little girls are made with lots of love and favourite fabrics.
Like this beautiful one:
Kimico elongates pattern Ebook ESI with two ruffled fabric panels.
Very prettyfor summer and fall with a shirt underneath.
And perfect as atunic dress for the next summer.
- just measure how long the dress is going to be and don’t forget the seam allowance – now you have the width of the fabric panel
example: Elongating the tunic by 20 cms, measure 20 cms, plus 1 cm seam allowance and 2 cms for the hem = 23 cms
- measure the hem of the tunic and add half of the length
example: Tunic hem is 80 cms plus 40 cms = 120 cms fabric length
- close the sides , crimple the upper side and attach to the tunic
- use ribbon to hide the seam if you want
READY!
Perfect to elongate grown out short dresses and skirts, too.

Combining patterns
Lovingly sewn combos are eyecatcher and the singles pieces are beautiful worn by themselves, too.
To create a coordinated look use
- similar colours
- alike embroidery and ribbons
- the same fabric as an accent
for example. But TOO similar could turn out boring so try and mix up differnet fabric on a table and see if they match.
